RFG Chief Executive – International, Mike Gilbert, has declared India an important global market for RFG
Australian foodservice operator, Retail Food Group Limited (RFG), secured three major UK Master Franchise Agreements in 2017, and it hopes India is next. This year it will see its top performing brands – Gloria Jean’s Coffees, Crust Gourmet Pizza and Donut King – open their first UK stores alongside its Cafe2u brand, which successfully launched in the UK over 10 years ago. With a number of its brands already established in international markets, the Australian company is one to watch as it leverages over 30 years’ franchising experience.
Who is Retail Food Group?
RFG is Australia’s largest multi-brand retail food franchisor, housing over 2,400 outlets across more than 80 licenced territories and nine Brand Systems. Its franchise systems are highly successful, based on a model that offers unique brands, quality products, innovative store designs and good customer and franchise support. RFG’s successful penetration of the UK market is expected to generate significant global interest in the Group’s major brands, and should hold the Company in good stead as it keeps expanding.
What has contributed to RFG’s success?
RFG’s Master Partners benefit from dealing directly with specialist teams such as Market Development Managers. They also receive supply benefits from increased scale and access to initiatives that have been developed over the Group’s 30 years of franchising. The training RFG offers is extensive and is equips partners to further develop their brands and individual stores.
RFG also focuses on continual growth and evolution. New products and equipment, re-designed store formats and new strategic partnerships all keep the brands fresh and give partners a competitive edge in their respective market.
The establishment of International Supply Hubs is another clever global strategy. RFG currently has Hubs in Australia, New Zealand, Middle East and the USA; allowing it to establish a significant commercial coffee supply, for example, along with more effective service for its franchise networks.
Where to next?
RFG Chief Executive – International, Mike Gilbert, has declared India an important global market for RFG. Due to India’s strong economic growth and acceptance of Western food brands, RFG is looking to expand across the three key regions of north, south and west India via Master Partners. Asia remains a key region for the Group, having signed seven Master agreements in the past eighteen months.
